The Vikings
|
The name "Viking" was first used by foreign authors in the 11th century AD. Is origin is probably the Swedish word for bay, "vik". Vikings come from Denmark, Norway and Sweden, the former two groups expeditions went westwards, concentrating on Western Europe and England, while the Swedish Vikings went mostly eastwards into Russia, Byzantium and the Caliphate.
